New Codes of Practice

Safe Work Australia released the fourth in a series of draft model Codes of Practice for public comment on Friday 8 June 2012. These are the fourth set of Codes of Practice developed to support the new Harmonised OHS Laws. The list of codes released for public comment are:

 

  • Industrial lift trucks
  • Cranes
  • Managing Risks in Forestry Operations
  • Managing Risks of Plant used in Rural Workplaces
  • Amusement devices
  • Managing Security Risks in the Cash-in-transit Industry.

The draft guides already released for public comment include Guide for Tunnelling, and Guide for Managing Risks in Cable Logging, which was developed to support the draft Code for forestry operations.

The draft model Codes are part of an information package developed by Safe Work Australia on behalf of the Commonwealth, states and territories, unions and industry as part of harmonised WHS laws across Australia. A full list of codes , guides and a detailed FAQ page can be accessed through the Safe Work Australia website.

Public comment period for these Codes of Practice will close on 24 August 2012.
