Check Your Safety System Performance

I have been asked by loads of people what does a safety system look like and how do we know if we are doing the right thing. On previous posts I included a list of procedures that should be considered when setting up your system, now I think it is time to take it that next step.

You should arrange a regular audit of your safety system to ensure you comply with the relevant state legislation and more importantly make sure the system is working. Do staff know where the first aid kit is? Do you have an incident report that is close at hand and easy to find? Are all risks and hazards identified and controls in place to avoid injury?

An audit will show how your system fared and what if anything, you need to do to make improvements.
