Ashes to Ashes
Geoff Warren, the Plant Operations Officer at Shoalhaven City Council shares an email he received from a colleague as a result of a near miss workplace safety incident and plant damage report. Geoff thought our readers may get a chuckle from reading it, but also stressed how easily some accidents do or may occur.
Email Subject: Ashes to Ashes
Dear xxxxxx,
One of our employees was using the self propelled mower and he stopped for morning tea. He took his shirt off and hung it on the mower handle to dry.
Unfortunately, a gust of wind blew it onto the muffler and the heat from the exhaust ignited the shirt. The mower started to burn immediately, so he ran 200 meters to get a bucket of water to extinguish the fire. The upside down bucket was full of Paper Wasps which attacked him. Finally when he had ran away from the vicious swarm he managed to fill up the bucket and when he arrived back at the mower it could not be saved.
xxxxxx, this is the whole truth, nothing but the truth, so help me god.

Thanks Geoff 🙂
